1)  Why does diversity always come down to race?

2)  Can't we all just get along?

3)  Are mainstream media outlets really just echo chambers?

I shall address questions number 2.

Diversity... when I hear this word, I immediately think of racial diversity, as I am sure thousands upon thousands of other people do.  I don't know for sure, but I guess it is just the era I have grown up in.  It seems like everything now days comes down to race.  Seriously, everything.  To me, the fact that commercials, or corporate brochures, if showing more than one person, must not only show a sexually diverse group of people, solely based on gender, but on sexual orientation, as well as a racially diverse group of people, is extremely odd.  Honestly, is it that big of a deal if all of the people on a commercial are black or white or hispanic, or gay or straight?  As I am sure many many people would say to me, "the reason you don't care is because you're white."  I have heard this type of argument before many times.  Now I am not racist or sexist in any way, shape, or form.  I have many friends of many different ethnic and sexual backgrounds.  We live in America and I believe everyone deserves the right to express who they are, how they feel, where they stand on political issues, no matter what.
Now I find myself back at that forbidden word... Diversity.  Uh oh.  Well, this is what diversity has come to mean to me.  If any topic, issue, commercial, or brochure, does not include more people of ethnic backgrounds other than whites, it is racist.  Don't believe me?  Just turn on the T.V.  There are hispanic, asian, black, as well as many other television channels dedicated solely to different races.  There is even a television channel called Black Entertainment Television.  Also, there are beauty contests that are solely for black women, as well as others just for hispanic women, and I am sure you could find others dedicated solely to other racial backgrounds.  So I ask, what if there were a television channel called White Entertainment Television?  Or a Miss White America Beauty Pageant, just like there is a Miss Black America Beauty Pageant?  I will tell you what would happen... There would be a huge upheaval by the American public and it would be slammed as being racist.  This is the reason these things will never exist.  Now, like I said earlier, I am not a racist at all, in any way, shape, or form, though I am sure some readers of this will call me one.  I guess I just find it weird that it has become considered alright by the public in present day America to have all black T.V. channels, or all black beauty pageants, or any other race for that matter to have these things, but God forbid there ever be a White Miss America! What is wrong with the people of this country?  I guess I just do not, and will not understand some things in this world.  The things I have mentioned above are the precise reasons why I hate that horrible word... Diversity!!!  Can't we all just get along?
